چکیده

Point-of-care testing (POCT) devices are becoming increasingly popular in the medical community as an alternative to conventional laboratory testing, especially for home treatments or other forms of outpatient care. Multiple-use chemical sensors with minimal requirements disposables among most practical and cost-effective POC diagnostic instruments, managing chronic conditions. An affordable, simple, easy-to-use optical sensor based on fast protein liquid chromatography direct UV absorption detection was developed rapid determination total concentration effluent peritoneal dialysate assessment losses end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients constant ambulatory dialysis (CAPD). The employs non-disposable PD-10 desalting columns separation molecules different molecular weights a deep LED (maximum at 285 nm) light source detection. analytic procedure is relatively takes 10–15 min, potentially can be performed by themselves nursing staff without training. Preliminary clinical trials group 23 CAPD revealed good concordance between concentrations samples measured automated biochemical analyzer; mean relative error about 10%, which comparable routine methods.

Quality of Life of End-stage Renal Failure Patients Receiving Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis

Quality of life is an important attribute of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) therapy and it has not, to our knowledge, been studied before in our country. This study describes how 87 patients 45 in endstage renal failure treated conservatively (25 males and 20 females, mean age 59.5 ± 11.9) and 42 on CAPD (24 males and 18 females, mean age 58.5 ± 11.6) perceived their own quali...

Is continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis adequate long-term therapy for end-stage renal disease? A critical assessment.

The significant growth in the continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) population and the recent interest in the quantitation of dialysis delivered have stimulated much work in the field of kinetic modeling, correlation between model parameters and clinical outcome, and comparison between the long-term benefits of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. A critical assessment of the long-t...

Peritoneal tuberculosis in patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

BACKGROUND Patients with chronic renal failure have an increased risk of tuberculosis (TB). This occurs with much higher frequency within the first 12 months of initiating dialysis and is usually extrapulmonary in nature. Patients most at risk are those from susceptible ethnic groups, especially the Indian subcontinent. Peritoneal TB, otherwise relatively uncommon, has emerged as an important f...
